Who says Samsung's Galaxy isn't as cool as the iPhone? Only one model can occupy the No. 1 sales slot, and in Q3 the honor went to Apple's main competitor—though the title is probably a temporary one, reports Mashable.



Samsung shipped 18 million Galaxy S III phones in the quarter, compared to 16.2 million units of the iPhone 4S. But the iPhone 5 went on sale on Sept. 21, just days before the quarter's close, likely prodding iPhone buyers to hold off on the iPhone 4S (19.4 million of which were sold in Q2) in favor of purchasing an iPhone 5 (6 million of which sold by Sept. 30).
