Turkish troops crossed on Tuesday into Kurdistan Region territories.

A well known source from Hafanin district told PUKmedia that the Turkish troops were advancing towards some villages such as Ure, Siror and Badah in Haftanin district, around 20 km (12 miles) from the Habur border post and near the city of Zakho, Duhok province.

He also said that nearly 1000 soldiers have crossed the border with armoured vehicles and Tanks.

Clashes broke out between PKK elements and Turkish troops in Hafanin district, causing casualties on both sides, the source added.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict since the PKK took up arms for Kurdish self-rule in 1984.
