President Barzani Meets Swedish Parliamentary Delegation
Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRP.org) – Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani today met with a visiting delegation of Swedish members of parliament to discuss cooperation and strengthening friendship between the Kurdistan Region and Sweden.

Heading the 8-member Swedish parliamentary delegation from five different parties, Carl Fredrik Malm of the Sweden’s Liberal People's Party praised Kurdistan Region’s rapid economic developments in the last few years and expressed his delegation’s support for the KRG.

“We are visiting the Kurdistan Region to find out for ourselves the progress and the situation on the ground. The economic progress here is impressive. We would like to strengthen our friendship and help improve relations between Sweden and the Kurdistan Region,” said Mr. Malm.

President Barzani thanked the delegation for making this visit and thanked the people of Sweden for their historical friendship and solidarity with the Kurdish people.

“I thank Sweden for their historical support to the Kurdish people, especially for opening its doors to our refugees in difficult times in the past. Sweden is an example of democracy, equality and respect for human rights and there is a lot that we can learn from Sweden,” said President Barzani, wishing the visiting delegation a successful and fruitful visit.
