Kurdistan Regional Government officials to meet with foreign investors in Erbil in June
Presented under the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government Department of Foreign Relations and the office of the Governor of Erbil, MEED's Kurdistan Projects Conference is a major part of the government's strategic plan to drive international investment into the region.

The capital of Kurdistan in northern Iraq is enjoying multi-sector investment from domestic and international sources, which is filtering down to the rest of the region.

Since 2006, Kurdistan has attracted nearly $16bn worth of investment and the KRG has planned for an additional $3bn budget expansion for 2012. In total, the KRG has 189 investment projects planned or in progress with a majority of those projects across the hosing, industry, tourism and trading sectors.

In recent years, the KRG has been actively encouraging economic stimulus and foreign direct investment into the Region's bustling energy and non-energy mega projects market. Major governmental decision makers from key departments and Ministries will deliver presentations, reveal new plans, announce new projects and meet face-to-face with investors.

"I welcome our guests and representatives of the global business community and hope that you will be able to meet with us and discuss various business opportunities at this important event," said Nawaz Hadi, Governor of Erbil, Kurdistan in a support letter issued by his office earlier this month.

In a letter of support issued in March, the Minister of the Department of Foreign Relations, Mr. Falah Mustafa Bakir states, "The focus of the conference is on procurement and development strategies for obtaining contracts on major projects in Kurdistan's dynamic and expanding market."

He goes on to say, "The KRG Department of Foreign Relations is pleased to lend its support to this important initiative and to provide its assistance to help facilitate the success of this conference."

MEED's Kurdistan Projects Conference will take place at the Rotana Hotel in Erbil, Kurdistan from 11-13 June 2012.
