Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRP.org) – President Barzani today received the ambassador of the Czech Republic to Iraq Mr. Jozef Vrabec to discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

Ambassador Vrabec hailed the stable situation in Kurdistan and said this has made Kurdistan a favorable destination for foreign companies to invest and conduct business activity.


“Kurdistan is an island of peace and stability and it’s encouraging to see such an economic boom and so much development going on here,” said Ambassador Vrabec, adding that Kurdistan is more open, more peaceful and more business-friendly than many places and his country is keen to establish strong ties with Kurdistan.


He also added that Czech Republic’s Industry and Trade Minister will head a large business delegation and visit the Kurdistan Region in June to explore areas of cooperation with the KRG.


For his part, President Barzani thanked the Czech Ambassador and his government for their interest in further strengthening ties with Kurdistan and said that the KRG too is eager to strengthen ties and welcomes cooperation and investment from the Czech Republic. He also shed light on the political situation in Iraq, including efforts to find a way out of the political crisis facing the country.
