Mr. Baniki Aquino President of the Philippines received on 31/5/2012 Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari during his visit to the Philippines.


Minister Zebari discussed with Philippines President the Filipino -Iraqi relations, and stressed the importance of lifting travel and worker restrictions since Iraq needs some specialized cadres in the health and service sector to support reconstruction projects and provide services.

The President of Philippine welcomed the visit of the Iraqi delegation and considered it a historic one in the diplomatic relations between the two countries since 37 years and praised the democratic developments in Iraq and Iraq’s return to its natural role in the region and the world


The Filipino President reviewed the process of democratization, development projects, fight against poverty and corruption and the rule of law in the Philippines.

The meeting was attended by Phillipenes Foreign Minister , Philippine Labor Secretary ,senior adviser to the president and with the participation of the Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq to the Philipines Mr. Wadi Bati and Philipine's Charge d'affairs of in Baghdad
