Iraqiya hands over signatures to Kurdistan presidency to withdraw confidence from PM Maliki
- Iraqiya List has delivered the signatures to withdraw confidence from Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government to the office of the presidency of the Kurdistan Region to be sent to President Jalal Talabani.
Iraqiya List spokeswoman Maisoon al-Damlouji said President Talabani will send the request to withdraw confidence to the Council of Representatives.

Iraqiya List, led by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, announced yesterday that the requests to withdraw confidence from the government exceeded the 164 votes required.

The collection of signatures by the Kurdish Blocs Coalition (KBC), Iraqiya List and the Sadrist Movement came as part of the ninth item of the Erbil second letter, which stated on the withdrawal of confidence from the government if no reforms were implemented by the PM.

The parties of the National Alliance (NA) - the State of Law Coalition (SLC), the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI), the Fadila party, the Badr Organization and the Iraqi National Congress - stressed the need to hold the national conference Talabani called for.

Iraqiya List stated that it cannot deal with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki during the coming period, adding that the PM must be replaced by a candidate from the NA.

Maliki's coalition confirms that the political problems in the country cannot be resolved by the government alone but through partnership with the legislative institution.
