PUK, KDP insist on withdrawing confidence from Maliki
The two Kurdish governing parties PUK and KDP issued Saturday a statement following the meeting of their politburos, reading that they intensify the attempts to withdraw confidence from Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

PUK and KDP held a meeting today in Erbil with the presidency of Massoud Barzani to unify the national positions regarding the strategic decisions.

The statement stressed the importance of the strategic treaty and unifying the viewpoints while tackling national issues including ousting al-Maliki via constitutional and democratic methods.

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and Kurdistan Democratic Party had signed a strategic treaty in 2007 to deal with the national decisions after the two had struggled for years and each governed a particular portion of the region.
