Turkish President: All attempts to persuade PKK to lay down arms sabotaged
- All attempts of Turkey to reach agreement with the Kurdistan Workers' Party to persuade them to lay down arms are sabotaged by militants, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said, TRT Haber channel reported on Thursday.

He noted that the PKK is promoting terrorism in Turkey, attracting children to it.

Gul said Turkey will continue to fight against terrorism and will do everything possible to eradicate it.

Militants of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), who voluntarily lay down their arms, will be able to leave Turkey and go to another country, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier.

He said if the PKK announces temporary cease-fire, it will not be enough, militants should lay down their arms once and for all.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK has lasted for over 25 years. The PKK is recognised as a terrorist organisation by both the UN and the EU.
