Clinton to Israel: Don't Build Those New Settlements
Two allies of Israel are expressing concern over the nation's new plan to build 3,000 more homes in the West Bank and east Jerusalem, the Telegraph reports.

Hillary Clinton and British Foreign Secretary William Hague both said the new settlements would jeopardize any attempt at a peace process leading to a two-state solution. Israel announced the settlements after Palestine's recognition by the UN as a "non-member observer state" this week—a move opposed by the US, while Britain abstained from the vote.

But Clinton also criticized Hamas, saying the militant group had "condemned those it rules to violence and misery"; she urged them to "reject violence" and "recognize Israel's right to exist," the Guardian reports. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority hinted today that it may complain to the International Criminal Court over Israel's plan to expand its settlements, the Jerusalem Post reports. And Hamas complained to Egypt today that Israeli soldiers have broken the latest truce by fatally shooting a Palestinian girl and wounding six others during a protest near southern Rafah yesterday, the Post reports.
