Exxon Mobil begins oil exploration in Kurdistan Region
Safeen Dezae Spokesman of KRG said that Exxon Mobil had began its first stage of exploring oil in Kurdistan Region by search the locations of the oil fields in the Region.

Kurdistan Regional Government had announced that Exxon mobil had began its exploring for oil in Kurdistan Region, stressing that the constitution allow the Region to sign contracts with Oil exploration companies, reported news.

Safeen Dezae Spokesman of KRG said in a statement to News Agency on 25-2-2013 that Exxon mobil had began its first stage of exploring oil in Kurdistan Region by search the locations of the oil fields in the Region, the second stage will be drilling and exploring oil from these fields. He also stressed that the company will continue performing their operation in the Region.

Exxon mobil is one of the largest oil companies in the world and had signed contracts with Kurdistan Region for exploring oil.

"We made it clear to Exxon in the last meeting that the answer we expected from them is to either work in the Kurdistan region or to work in southern Iraq," Oil Minister Abdul Kareem Luaibi told reporters in Baghdad.
