Maliki forces prevent Kurds in Shangal travel to Kurdistan region
Kurdish residents of the disputed territory of Shangal are forbidden to travel by Maliki’s check-point forces in their ways to Kurdistan region, journalist of Peyamner News Agency, Risala Sharkani reported.

Kurdish people including journalists are not allowed to leave Shangal towards Kurdistan region as they even beaten by pro-Maliki security forces in check-points.

Risala Sharkani, a journalist associated with Peyamner News Agency was among the travelers who have been beaten by Maliki’s force in a check-point as she insisted on her right to travel to Kurdistan region.

Following the 2003 Iraq War, Shangal has become part of the disputed areas under Article 140 of the permanent constitution of Iraq.

Majority of the population is reported to support the idea of Shangal becoming part of Kurdistan Region, Kurdish Globe reported.
