Kurdistan Region scores high in the fDi “Middle East Cities of the Future 2012/13” ranking
After Erbil was already appointed the “Arab Tourism Capital 2014” by the Arab Council of Tourism in November 2012, the three capitals of the Kurdistan Region’s governorates Erbil, Slemani and Duhok have been awarded high scores for their FDI Strategy for the future.

The fDi intelligence Magazine, which is a specialist division of the Financial Times Ltd. has released the rankings of the “Middle East Cities of the Future 2012/13” in December 2012.
Cities throughout the Middle East have been evaluated in different categories such as infrastructure, economic potential, human resources and quality of life.

In the category FDI strategy, Erbil scored third rank, Slemani the sixth and Duhok the seventh rank with Iraq representing the strongest country in the top ten list together with cities of the UAE.

The publication states that “despite its turbulent past, the Kurdistan Region is actively promoting its strengths to foreign investors”. This is due to the economic boom, which is built up on the good and stable security situation and the favorable investment conditions creating a prosperous business climate in the Region.
