Italian journalist missing in Syria: family appeal
Italian newspaper La Stampa has published a video plea for information about the whereabouts of correspondent Domenico Quirico, who has been missing in Syria for nearly eight weeks.

Quirico’s daughters Metella and Eleonora made the video appeal, saying: “We are asking for anyone with information to help us get him home. Whoever has any news, please contact the Italian authorities. Dad, with Mum, we’re waiting for you to come home soon.”

Quirico, 62, was last heard from when he sent a text message to his paper saying “I’m in Syria”.

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an international NGO, says Syria is the deadliest country in the world for reporters.

Several journalists are currently missing there – including Pierre Piccinin, a Belgian writer and academic who often worked with Quirico, and Americans James Foley and Austin Tice.
