Basra MPs threaten lead a coup against the government
Basra MPs threatened on Thursday, to close the border crossing points and lead a coup against the government in Baghdad if provincial law unlinked to a region that was approved this week will be appealed.

“We are disappointed from the withdrawal of some MPs on the government's attempts to reject the provincial law appeal,” a group of MPs from Basra said at a news conference.

“We affirm and declare the closure of border crossings if that happens for the fact that the law will serve Basra and the rest of the provinces,” MPs added.

MP, Jawad al-Bazoni said “we will lead a coup against the government, like the one that took place in the provincial councils”.

The government expressed objection to Article 45 within amendments of the unlinked provinces to a regions’ law as two years were determined to complete it.

The article 45 stipulates to” establish a body called (the supreme body for coordination among provinces), headed by the Prime Minister and the minister’s membership of (Municipalities , Public Works, Construction and Housing, Labor and Social Affairs, Education, health, planning, agriculture, finance, sports and youth) and the Minister State for Provincial Affairs as well as governors and heads of provincial councils.
