Hemen Hawrami believed that President Barzani’s two year extension of power is designed to be an opportunity for all Kurdish political forces to discuss and resolve matters over Kurdistan constitution.

Hemen Hawrami, a member of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leadership Council and the head of its Foreign Relations Office told Rudaw TV channel yesterday that “Barzani’s presidency extension is a guarantee to achieve a successful democracy in Iraqi Kurdistan” calling the current situation “a sensitive” period that Kurdistan need stability more than ever.

Barzani's presidency had been due to end this summer, when his second term of four years ends. Kurdish lawmakers voted in Parliament on Sunday authorized President Barzani to stay in power for two more years.

Parliament announced that President Barzani will remain in power until August 19, 2015; the decision came after the majority of voters agreed on the extension of presidency term while it caused tension in Parliament hall among main parties and oppositions.

In a statement released by Kurdistan Region Presidency official website, President of Kurdistan Masoud Barzani is going to address his own standpoint on the two years extension of the term of Kurdistan presidency as well as the postponed parliament election after he returns to Kurdistan Region in the coming days.
