RIL plans to bid for oil & gas blocks in Iraq
Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries (RIL) sees great opportunity in the re-development of Iraq by participating in the two upcoming rounds of bidding for the exploration and development of super giant size blocks that includes Nassiria oil and gas fields in Iraq. Besides, the company would also look at possibilities of development of petrochemicals and refineries associated with the development of the blocks.

Mukesh Ambani, chairman of RIL said “We are evaluating the possibilities in Iraq where we have qualified to participate in the bidding for the development of the Nassiraini block which would also have the refinery attached to it.”

The move is relevant in the context that RIL last year sold its 80 per cent stake in two oil blocks in Kurdistan to Chevron due to political issues with Iraq government which said that RIL would not be allowed to bid in Iraq since the Kurdistan blocks in Rovi and Sarta were not approved by Iraq.
