A statement issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government

PKK militants have repeatedly attacked Peshmerga and security forces in the Kurdistan Region in the past, killing and wounding many officers and Peshmerga. They are trying to destabilize the Kurdistan Region. Unfortunately, six peshmerga have been martyred in the past few days and several more peshmerga have been injured.

Hundreds of villages in the border areas have been deserted for years due to the presence of PKK militants, causing massive material damage to civilians in those areas. At the same time, they continue to try to interfere in the internal affairs of the Kurdistan Region and stir up unrest in the region through various means. These days as part of their plans against the region and with the help of local hands, many European citizens were sent to the region to use them as a tool to destabilize the region under the name of a group called Peace and Freedom.

Thus, we announce to the public that maintaining stability in the Kurdistan Region in general and in the capital, Erbil, is the red line, and we will not allow this stability to be disrupted under any foreigner and under any group.

We urge those groups that call themselves peace and freedom not to become a tool for destabilizing the region. If they really want peace, let them speak to Qandil because violence and turmoil stem from there. These groups need to call on the PKK to stop interfering in the affairs of the Kurdistan Region and limit its encroachment on the Kurdistan Region.
