Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Fazlul Bari, the incoming Ambassador of Bangladesh to Iraq and his accompanying delegation, in Erbil on Thursday.

President Nechirvan Barzani congratulated Mr. Bari on assuming the office and wished him success in his new mission as the Ambassador of Bangladesh. The President expressed Kurdistan Region’s support to Ambassador Bari’s duties in the Kurdistan Region and emphasized on strengthening of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region’s bilateral ties with Bangladesh in all areas, and referred to the skillful Bangladeshi work force in the Kurdistan Region.

For his part, Ambassador Bari conveyed the greetings of the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to President Nechirvan Barzani, and delivered an official invitation to the President to visit Bangladesh.

Mr. Bari expressed appreciation to the Kurdistan Region people and government for hosting and supporting the Bangladeshi work force in the country. The Ambassador reiterated his country’s willingness to expand relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in all areas of mutual interest, particularly in commerce.

Discussions also covered the upcoming Iraqi elections, the status of the refugees in the Kurdistan Region and in Bangladesh and the need to open a Bangladeshi consulate in Erbil.
