Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, and Muhammad al-Halbousi, head of the Progress Alliance meet in Erbil on Tuesday.

President Nechirvan Barzani and Mr. Muhammad Al-Halbousi, head of the Progress Alliance, emphasized the role, presence and status of the Kurdish and Sunni components in the Iraqi political process, as they are major partners of the Shiite component and other components.

They also stressed the importance of cooperation and mutual understanding between the Iraqi forces and parties to take the necessary steps in the political process and to form a government that is inclusive of the Iraqi parties and components and responds to the aspirations and demands of citizens in providing security, stability, services and a better life.

The two sides also discussed the latest developments in the war on terrorism and the recent attacks of ISIS, especially those targeting areas of the security vacuum between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga forces, which resulted in martyrs from the army, the Peshmerga and civilians.

They also stressed the importance and necessity of further activating and accelerating coordination mechanisms between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga in the field of confronting and defeating terrorists.
