President Nechirvan Barzani received Mr. Ali Riza Guney, Turkey’s Ambassador to Iraq, in Erbil on Wednesday.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with Turkey, the political process in the country, the recent parliamentary elections and the developments in the country. Ongoing efforts to surpass the difficulties and disputes over election results, formation of the next Iraqi government, terror threats and ISIS assaults were highlighted.

Both sides reiterated the willingness to develop mutual relations especially in economic areas and agreed on the importance of shared partnership and coordination for regional peace and stability.

The latest developments in the wider region and other topics of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting, which was attended by Turkey’s Consul General in Erbil.
