Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday met with Gregory Galligan, the new Canadian Ambassador to Iraq.

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Ambassador on assuming office and wished him all the best in his new role.

The Canadian Ambassador expressed his joy at assuming office and briefed Prime Minister Barzani on his plans in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, as well as stating his country’s desire to develop ties with the Kurdistan Region, especially in relation to investment, agriculture, and technology.

The Ambassador also praised the peaceful diversity and coexistence of the Kurdistan Region.

Other topics of discussion included the political process in Iraq, the war against terrorism, the importance of continuous support for the Peshmerga forces, and the KRG’s reform program.
