President Nechirvan Barzani met with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey today.

The meeting covered a wide range of discussions including the political situation in Iraq, Baghdad-Erbil relations, expanding Turkey’s ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the latest developments in the Ukraine military conflict, and the situation in the wider region.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu appreciated President Nechirvan Barzani attending the forum, underlining that Turkey cherishes its relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and attaches importance to the political situation in the country.

The President commended the efforts of Turkey to bring the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine together, and expressed hope that the current conflict comes to a peaceful end. The President also hoped that international peace and security overcome this difficult crisis and that further loss of lives are prevented.

Regarding the developments in Iraq, the President reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s willingness to resolve the differences on the basis of the constitution.
