President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed his congratulations to the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Mr. Bafel Jalal Talabani on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the party. In a phone call on Wednesday, the President also extended his congratulations to the PUK’s leadership, and all members and supporters of the party.

The President pointed to the role and contributions of the PUK and President Mam Jalal in the Kurdistan liberation movement, and payed tribute to all the brave Peshmergas who fought and made sacrifices for the freedom of Kurdistan within the PUK.

The President also stressed the need for joint work, solidarity and unity among all Kurdish parties to protect the federal status and political entity of the Kurdistan Region and to safeguard the rights of the people of Kurdistan. He referred to the PUK’s important and effective role in this context.

For his part, PUK leader Mr. Bafel Jalal Talabani, expressed his and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s appreciation to President Nechirvan Barzani for the congratulatory phone call, and valued the efforts of the President to bring the political parties closer together.
