Iraq and Iran signed joint security protocol

Iraq and Iran signed a joint security protocol in Baghdad on Sunday to strengthen mutual security cooperation and protect their shared borders.

The meeting, held at the request of Iran, took place at the Prime Minister's office and discussed the bilateral relationship between the two countries, as well as the security and political situation in the region.

Iraq's National Security Adviser, Qassim al-Araji, affirmed that Iraq does not support using its territory to launch attacks on neighboring countries and will not allow armed groups to operate from its soil or violate its sovereignty.

Iraq's National Security Adviser, Qassim al-Araji, and the head of Iran's National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, met in Baghdad and signed a joint security protocol to increase security cooperation and protect the shared borders of Iraq and Iran.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the bilateral relationship between the two countries and the security and political situation in the region.

Sudani reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to not allow the use of its territory for attacks on neighboring countries and not to tolerate any violation of its sovereignty.

Shamkhani expressed his gratitude for Iraq's role in the recent agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia and underlined Iran's desire to enhance bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries.

The signed joint security protocol includes coordination to safeguard the shared borders and enhance mutual cooperation in various security fields.
