Kurdistan Region Council of Ministers Meets to Discuss Relations with Federal Government

The Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region met on Wednesday, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, where he discussed the recent visit of the region's delegation to Baghdad and the signing of an agreement to re-export Kurdistan's oil. Barzani described the agreement as "an important achievement" and a positive step towards improving relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.

The Prime Minister also praised the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, for his efforts in resolving outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad. Additionally, Barzani applauded the Kurdistan government delegation for reaching this agreement without compromising any of the constitutional rights of the region.

In another part of the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted that the federal government has cut off salaries and financial dues to Kurdistan in recent years, which has forced the region to export oil. However, Barzani stressed that the exports were made within legal procedures and within the constitutional rights of the region.

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region expressed his hope that the agreement would be implemented as is and as soon as possible. He further emphasized that it should serve as the basis for implementing the budget law and preparing the federal oil and gas project.

The signing of this agreement marks a positive step forward for the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in resolving their ongoing disputes. The implementation of the agreement will be closely watched by both parties and will have significant implications for the economic and political landscape of the region.
