President Nechirvan Barzani received Major General Matthew McFarlane, Commander of the Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, and his accompanying military delegation.

In a meeting attended by the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, General McFarlane thanked President Nechirvan Barzani for the steps taken to reunite the Peshmerga forces and the reform process in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs, as well as for today’s inauguration ceremony of the 1st and 2nd Infantry divisions of the Peshmerga forces within the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.

The meeting discussed the importance of strengthening coordination between the international coalition forces against ISIS and the Kurdistan Region to fight terrorism, stressing the continuity of joint cooperation to completely defeat ISIS.

The two sides also discussed the importance of finding a solution to the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad, especially the oil and budget issues.
