China Conducts Three-Day Military Drills around Taiwan

China has begun a three-day military operation around Taiwan, which it has dubbed "United Sharp Sword," running until Monday. The People's Liberation Army's (PLA) Eastern Theatre Command made the announcement of the operation.

Taiwan's defense ministry has responded by saying that it will react to China's exercises "with a calm, rational, and serious attitude." The ministry is committed to the principle of "not escalating conflicts, nor causing disputes to defend our national sovereignty and security."

This is not the first time China has conducted military drills around Taiwan. In August of last year, China carried out nearly a week of exercises around Taiwan after Nancy Pelosi's predecessor, Kevin McCarthy, visited Taipei. The drills included the deployment of fighter jets and warships, as well as the firing of ballistic missiles, making it China's largest show of force in years.

The recent military exercises by China have raised concerns among Taiwan and its allies. The US has expressed its support for Taiwan, with officials stating that any attempt by China to use military force to reunify with Taiwan would be a "serious mistake." Japan has also expressed concern about China's military activities in the region.

The situation remains tense as China continues its military operations around Taiwan, and Taiwan remains vigilant in protecting its national sovereignty and security.
