President Nechirvan Barzani hosts Iftar dinner for Muslim religious clerics

President Nechirvan Barzani hosted an Iftar dinner (fast-breaking dinner) for a number of religious clerics who represented Kurdistan’s Muslim cleric community.

At the dinner banquet, which was attended by Mr. Mustafa Sayed Qadir, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, and Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs, the President of the Kurdistan Religious Scholars Union, on behalf of the attendees, thanked President Nechirvan Barzani for his continuous efforts to resolve the internal conflicts and for fostering political unity and stability. He hoped these efforts would de-escalate tensions and bring an end to the conflicts.

For his part, President Nechirvan Barzani praised the role of religious scholars in spreading moderate religious awareness and the spirit of charity, and for protecting the people of Kurdistan from the influence of extremist thoughts. The President stressed that religious clerics have always been in the forefront to defend the legitimate rights of their people in the revolutions of the people of Kurdistan, intertwining religion and patriotism. The President stressed that the resolution of internal issues and outstanding problems with Baghdad must be supported with optimism because there is no other option for the parties except the agreement, and that they are currently on the path of an agreement with Baghdad.

The President asked the religious clerics to convey his greetings to all clerics and wished them success and a happy Eid al-Fitr.
