Kurdish Red Crescent Paramedic Sentenced to 7 Years in Iran for Treating Wounded Protesters

A Kurdish paramedic of the Red Crescent, Naser Fagheh-Eissa, has been sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison by the Iranian criminal court in Mahabad. He was arrested during the recent protests by the Jin, Jîyan, Azadî Movement.

The charges against him include possession of a bullet and pellet gun, treating wounded protesters, and disrupting public order.

According to an informed source, Fagheh-Eissa will also attend a trial session in Branch 1 of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mahabad soon for charges related to another case. He was arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in October 2022 and has been held in the central prison of Mahabad after completing interrogations.

This development has been reported by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, shedding light on the ongoing human rights violations in Iran.

The sentencing of Fagheh-Eissa serves as an example of the Iranian government's crackdown on dissent and peaceful protests, particularly against Kurdish activists.

The international community has been urged to take notice of these violations and pressure the Iranian government to respect the rights of its citizens.
