Ministry of Agriculture Implements Urgent Measures to Prevent Spread of Hemorrhagic Fever

In a bid to combat the spread of hemorrhagic fever, the Ministry of Agriculture has taken decisive action by implementing six urgent measures and tightening controls on the informal importation of animals. These measures aim to safeguard public health and prevent the further transmission of the disease within the Kurdistan region.

The Ministry's preventive measures include stringent regulations for the slaughter and handling of animals. Animals must now be slaughtered exclusively in official slaughterhouses, ensuring that they undergo veterinary examinations and carry official stamps before being introduced to the market. The Ministry has explicitly prohibited the practice of slaughtering animals on roads and alleys, emphasizing the importance of maintaining hygienic conditions throughout the process.

Additionally, the Ministry has mandated pre-slaughter inspections to ensure the health and safety of animals. This step further guarantees that only healthy animals enter the food supply chain, minimizing the risk of disease transmission.

Recognizing the significance of maintaining proper hygiene standards, the Ministry has also emphasized the use of appropriate clothing and slaughter equipment in designated slaughterhouses. This measure not only protects the well-being of workers but also reduces the potential for contamination.

To bolster the prevention efforts, animal quarries situated at borders and airports have been directed to conduct meticulous inspections of animals entering the Kurdistan region. These inspections are essential to verify the health status of animals and prevent the introduction of infected animals that could potentially spread the disease.

Furthermore, the Ministry has taken proactive measures to combat external parasites, such as mange, which are a primary source of infection transmission. A comprehensive campaign has been launched within the Kurdistan region to provide animal washing drugs that effectively eliminate these parasites. By targeting this key factor in the transmission cycle, the Ministry aims to curb the spread of hemorrhagic fever among animals.

Lastly, the Ministry of Agriculture has intensified efforts to regulate informal animal imports from abroad and within the Kurdistan region. Specifically, the importation of animals from provinces where hemorrhagic fever is prevalent has been prohibited. This step aims to curtail the entry of potentially infected animals and halt the further spread of the disease.

The Ministry's initiatives have garnered praise for their proactive approach to combating the spread of hemorrhagic fever. They have underscored the importance of public cooperation and adherence to the recommended health guidelines. Citizens and butchers are urged to prioritize their safety, follow the prescribed measures, and actively contribute to the prevention of the disease.

As the Ministry of Agriculture takes firm steps to control and prevent the spread of hemorrhagic fever, it is expected that these measures will effectively mitigate the risks associated with the disease and ensure the safety of both humans and animals within the Kurdistan region.
