Iraqi National Security Advisor to Meet Kurdistan Region Interior Minister, Addresses Sinjar Issue

Qasim al-Araji, the Iraqi National Security Advisor, is scheduled to hold a crucial meeting with Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed in the coming days. This meeting aims to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the two entities, particularly regarding border security.

During his address at the Sixth Conference of the Iraqi Citizenship Project C in Baghdad, al-Araji tackled several pressing matters, placing particular emphasis on the urgent need to address the presence of outlawed groups in Sinjar who reject the agreement between Erbil and Baghdad. The Iraqi National Security Advisor reaffirmed the government's unwavering commitment to implementing the Sinjar agreement and shed light on the establishment of a dedicated committee tasked with overseeing the issue.

In a significant development, al-Araji announced plans to repatriate 2,500 displaced individuals from Sinjar, currently residing in refugee camps in Duhok, back to their homes. This move not only aims to alleviate the suffering of the displaced but also underscores the government's determination to restore normalcy and stability to the region.

"The issue of Sinjar holds immense significance and sensitivity," emphasized al-Araji. "The Iraqi government is fully devoted to resolving this matter and ensuring the return of peace and security to the region."

Amidst the conference proceedings, al-Araji expressed his satisfaction with the highly positive and strategic relations between Erbil and Baghdad. He highlighted the exemplary cooperation achieved between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, specifically in the realm of security. This collaborative effort has reached its zenith, ensuring heightened levels of safety and protection for the region.

Furthermore, al-Araji disclosed his intention to engage in discussions with Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed regarding border security before his scheduled visit to Iran. This meeting seeks to fortify coordination and address any potential security challenges along the border.
