Resumption of Incomplete Housing Projects in Kurdistan Region for Seamless Progress

Resumption of Incomplete Housing Projects in Kurdistan Region for Seamless Progress

In an effort to ensure the completion of stalled residential projects and promote their smooth operation, the Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has announced the resumption of construction activities.

The move comes as part of a transformative agenda implemented by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to strengthen the region's economy and society, with a focus on creating sustainable foundations and providing equal opportunities.

Prime Minister Barzani attended the fourth commencement ceremony of the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok, where he emphasized the government's commitment to transforming Kurdistan into a knowledge nation. He highlighted the values shared by his government and Mullah Mustafa Barzani, after whom the foundation building of AUK was named. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that those who choose to pursue their studies abroad will find compelling reasons to return home and contribute to the region's development.

Dr. Mohammed Shukri Mohammed Saeed, the Head of the Investment Authority told the Media and Information Department, that several housing projects had been halted in the region. However, efforts are underway to resume construction on several projects to ensure that citizens' rights are safeguarded. Notable among these projects are Flora City in Erbil, Zain City and Aram City in Duhok, and various projects in other areas.

Despite progress in restarting some projects, challenges remain for others, including the Dashiti Bahshat project included in the government program. To address these issues, a special committee has been formed to thoroughly study and resolve the problems hindering the projects' progress. The committee aims to find comprehensive solutions that will facilitate the successful completion of these initiatives.

In a bid to enhance transparency and accountability, the Supreme Investment Council has mandated the owners of incomplete residential projects to open new bank accounts. These accounts will serve as a dedicated channel for depositing citizens' funds and project incomes. The council prohibits investors from altering or diverting the flow of funds without proper official approvals. Withdrawals from these accounts will require the investor's consent, ensuring that project expenses are managed responsibly.

Prime Minister Barzani's initiative to resume the housing projects underscores the KRG's commitment to prioritize citizens' rights and aspirations. The government aims to create a supportive environment for economic growth and development, foster job opportunities, and deliver sustainable and high-quality residential solutions to the people of Kurdistan.

As the region sets its sights on a prosperous future, the resumption of these projects paves the way for progress, while the ongoing commitment to address any outstanding issues reflects the government's dedication to ensuring the successful completion of housing initiatives. The revitalized construction efforts are expected to contribute significantly to the development of Kurdistan and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
