New institute aims to aid citizens during natural disasters and crises, benefiting from German expertise

Erbil - In a momentous ceremony held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Crisis Management officially inaugurated a state-of-the-art Training and Crisis Management Institute.

The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries, including the Minister of Interior, Rebar Ahmad, as well as the governors of Erbil, Duhok, and Sulaymaniyah, Omed Khoshnaw, Ali Tatar, and Haval Abu Bakr, respectively. Notable representatives from Germany, including the Deputy Interior Minister, the Deputy Consul General, and the President of THW, were also present.

The primary focus of the newly established Institute of Training and Crisis Management is to provide assistance to citizens during natural disasters and other emergency situations. Leveraging the expertise and experience gained from German counterparts, the institute aims to enhance the preparedness of government employees, volunteers, and rapid response teams.

At the inauguration ceremony, a captivating practical demonstration showcasing earthquake response techniques was presented, underscoring the importance of the institute's mission. By employing German best practices, the Institute for Training and Crisis Management will equip individuals with the necessary skills to effectively handle crises, mitigate risks, and safeguard lives and property in the Kurdistan Region.

The Institute of Training and Crisis Management assumes a pivotal role in raising awareness and building response capacity among citizens. Through comprehensive training programs, the institute will provide instruction in crisis and disaster preparedness, rescue operations, and essential first aid techniques.
