Kurdish-led SDF Denies Involvement in Attack on Turkish Foreign Ministry

In a recent development, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have denied any involvement in the attack on the Turkish foreign ministry building in the capital city, Ankara. The SDF, led by General Commander Mazloum Abdi, issued a statement refuting the allegations made by Turkish officials and called for international intervention to ensure peace and stability in the region.

General Commander Abdi stated, "Ankara's attack perpetrators haven't passed through our region as Turkish officials claim, and we aren't party to Turkey's internal conflict nor do we encourage escalation." This denial comes in response to Turkish authorities implying that the SDF may have been behind the recent attack.

Abdi continued, expressing deep concerns about Turkey's intentions: "Turkey is looking for pretexts to legitimize its ongoing attacks on our region and to launch a new military aggression that is of our deep concern." He also emphasized that any threat to target the region's infrastructure, economic resources, and populated cities would constitute a war crime, and cited past instances where such actions had been witnessed.

The SDF commander appealed to the international community, urging them to take appropriate measures in response to these frequent threats. Abdi emphasized the need to safeguard peace and stability in the region, as the situation remains tense.

On Sunday, a suicide bomber detonated himself in front of Ankara's Security Directorate General, resulting in minor injuries to two police officers. Following the attack, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) claimed responsibility for the incident. Turkey views the SDF and other Kurdish armed forces in northeast Syria as an extension of the PKK, a stance that has led to multiple military offensives against Syrian Kurdish forces in the past.

The situation remains complex and sensitive, with regional tensions escalating amid these recent events. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, hoping to prevent further hostilities and promote a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflicts in the region.
