On Sunday, October 8, 2023, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) received Ahmed Aldhaheri, Consul General of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, Consul General Aldhaheri presented an official invitation letter from Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, inviting Prime Minister Barzani to the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP28) scheduled for December 1st and 2nd in Dubai. The event coincides with UAE's National Day.

The COP28 conference aims to explore strategies for addressing the detrimental impacts of climate change on nations worldwide.
