In a brazen act of aggression, a drone laden with explosives targeted the coalition base in Erbil's Harir district on Saturday, causing significant material damage. Media reports confirm that the drone landed within the military base's parameters, exploding near the aircraft hangars.

This incident marks a disturbing trend, with a surge in drone and rocket attacks targeting US forces in Iraq, Syria, and the Kurdistan Region. The Pentagon has attributed these attacks to "Iranian-backed militia groups," and at least 24 US service members have suffered injuries in the recent spate of incidents.

Just last week, on Thursday, another explosive-laden drone targeted the US military base in Harir, resulting in fires within the base. Moreover, on Tuesday of the same week, three attack drones aimed at the military base housing the US-led global coalition to defeat the Islamic State (IS) in Erbil. Two of the drones were intercepted in the skies, preventing potential casualties and material damage.

This wave of attacks follows the escalation of the Israel-Palestine conflict in early October, initiated by a surprise attack from Hamas forces on Israel. The subsequent Israeli retaliatory actions have led to a devastating toll, with at least 1,200 Israeli casualties and over 11,000 lives lost in Gaza.
