Iraqi Prime Minister Condemns Attack on US Embassy, Orders Pursuit of Perpetrators
Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, unequivocally denounced the recent missile attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad's Green Zone. In a statement released by the spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief, Brigadier General Yahya Rasool, the Prime Minister declared the targeting of diplomatic missions as unjustifiable and unacceptable, directing security forces to pursue those responsible for the projectile assault on the US Embassy.
"The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani, has instructed all security leaders across their respective jurisdictions to pursue the perpetrators of the missile attack on the US Embassy in Iraq and bring them to justice," stated Brigadier General Yahya Rasool in the released statement on Friday.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized in his directives that targeting diplomatic missions is an act that cannot be justified under any circumstances. He stressed that such actions cast a negative light on Iraq, its stability, and its security. Al-Sudani asserted that these rogue elements, acting outside the law, do not represent the will of the Iraqi people and do not reflect the national Iraqi decision expressed by the government on multiple official occasions.
"The manipulation of Iraq's stability, harm to internal security, attempts to tarnish Iraq's political reputation, and targeting secure locations protected by the force of law, customs, and international agreements are terrorist acts," the statement further noted. It emphasized that Iraq's security forces, governmental bodies, and executive agencies will continue to protect diplomatic missions, ensuring the maintenance of international treaties and commitments.
The Prime Minister assured that those engaging in malicious activities will face pursuit and resistance in defense of Iraq's sovereignty and stability, achieved through a long history of significant sacrifices.
As the situation unfolds, the international community closely monitors Iraq's response and the broader implications of these attacks on diplomatic premises in the region. The Prime Minister's strong condemnation signals a commitment to upholding Iraq's security and deterring further acts of aggression.
