In a press conference held today, Sunday, Mayor Mamoon Abdulwahab of Baharka announced a comprehensive plan for various service projects to be executed in the district throughout the upcoming year, with a primary focus on improving infrastructure and community well-being.

Despite facing financial constraints, Abdulwahab expressed the municipality's commitment to prioritizing projects that would have the maximum positive impact on citizens' lives. A key initiative highlighted by the mayor is the construction of a 60-meter-long street, stretching approximately five kilometers. Additionally, efforts will be directed towards completing the streets of the Jin and Ashti neighborhoods, along with various other 20-meter-long streets within the municipality's jurisdiction.

A major highlight of the announcement is the plan to pave both sides of the main road in Baharka with interlocking tiles. This aesthetic enhancement aims to contribute to the overall beautification of the district, accompanied by tree planting initiatives and an increase in green spaces.

In terms of essential services, Abdulwahab outlined the construction of two new schools and hospitals, including a specialized facility for cancer patients and another charitable hospital catering to emergency cases. The total area allocated for these healthcare institutions is estimated to be around 5,000 square meters.

The mayor emphasized the importance of addressing potential flood risks in certain neighborhoods, outlining plans to implement a sewage network in Kobani, Jin Complex, and New Baharka.

These announcements align with the broader goals of the ninth formation plan of the Kurdistan Regional Government, with the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism actively supporting the execution of several service projects in Baharka. Notable initiatives include road construction, street renovations, and the construction of reservoirs to mitigate the risk of floods.

As the municipality gears up for an ambitious year of development, citizens eagerly anticipate the positive transformations that these projects will bring to Baharka, enhancing both the infrastructure and overall quality of life in the district.
