President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with the Iraqi President Dr. Abdullatif Rashid today in Baghdad. The meeting primarily focused on the overall situation in the country and the significance of upholding peace and stability. Both leaders emphasized the need to promote economic development and enhance services, while also expressing support for the federal government in implementing its agenda. The dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad, aimed at resolving their issues in accordance with the Constitution, was also a key topic of discussion. Furthermore, the meeting underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government across all sectors.

President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s willingness to engage in dialogue and find mutually agreeable solutions with Baghdad, particularly regarding the public’s livelihoods and wellbeing. President Rashid emphasized the importance of continued meetings and visits between delegations from both sides to address these issues.

Additionally, the two leaders condemned the recent drone attack on the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaimani province, denouncing it as a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to the country’s peace and stability.

Overall, the meeting served as a platform to strengthen relations between Erbil and Baghdad, with a shared commitment to successful talks and the resolution of outstanding matters. The leaders also discussed the recent visits by the Iraqi Prime Minister to the United States and the Turkish President to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the positive outcomes of these visits in terms of enhancing economic and trade relations, as well as joint efforts on combating terrorism.
