Kurdistan Region PM Masrour Barzani Commemorates 48th Anniversary of the Gulan Revolution

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, who also serves as the vice-president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), paid tribute to the Peshmerga fighters and celebrated the resilience of the Kurdish people on the 48th anniversary of the Gulan Revolution. In his statement, PM Barzani extended heartfelt congratulations to Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, president of the KDP, as well as to the valiant Peshmerga forces and all those who participated in the revolution.

Prime Minister Barzani underscored the significance of the Gulan Revolution, describing it as a continuation of the notable September Revolution led by the late Mustafa Barzani. He noted that the revolution rekindled hope among the Kurdish people and successfully countered the schemes of their adversaries.

"The resistance and unity of the Kurdish people and their political factions were evident in their ability to achieve significant national accomplishments," stated PM Barzani. "These include the monumental 1991 uprising, the election of parliament, and the formation of the Kurdistan Regional Government."

Barzani honored all the revolutionaries who fought in the struggle, with particular recognition of the late leader Idris Barzani. "We bow in reverence and admiration to all the fighters of this revolution and to the pure souls of the martyrs of the Kulilan Revolution and all the martyrs of Kurdistan."

The Gulan Revolution, which began in 1976, has been pivotal in the Kurdish liberation movement. It significantly contributed to the establishment of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the ongoing pursuit of Kurdish autonomy and rights. PM Barzani's tribute reflects the enduring spirit and determination of the Kurdish people in their quest for legitimate rights and self-determination.
