Joint Operation by US and Iraqi Forces Kills 15 ISIS Militants in Western Iraq
In a significant joint operation, American and Iraqi security forces targeted and killed 15 militants belonging to the "Islamic State" (ISIS) terrorist group in western Iraq, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported. The operation aimed to disrupt ISIS's capability to plan and execute attacks.
According to CENTCOM, the ISIS militants were heavily armed with numerous weapons, grenades, and explosive suicide belts. During the operation, at least seven American soldiers were injured, as reported by the Associated Press, citing American military officials.

The operation included targeted airstrikes followed by an airborne assault, with Iraq’s military confirming that key ISIS leaders were among the dead. All hideouts were destroyed, and important documents, identification papers, and communication devices were seized. The Iraqi military also stated that the explosive belts found at the site were safely detonated.
"This operation targeted ISIS leaders to disrupt and degrade ISIS's ability to plan, organize, and conduct attacks against Iraqi civilians, as well as U.S. citizens, allies, and partners throughout the region and beyond," CENTCOM stated on social media platform X.
