The Vice Presidents of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Nechirvan Barzani and Masrour Barzani, are set to attend a major public rally on Saturday evening at Duhok Stadium. The event is part of the KDP's campaign for the upcoming parliamentary general election, with supporters of KDP List 190 expected to gather in large numbers to show their backing for the party.

The rally is a key part of the KDP's electoral efforts as the Kurdistan Region heads toward the 6th round of the parliamentary elections, scheduled for October 20, 2024. The Iraqi Independent High Election Commission (IHEC) confirmed the date, with nearly 2.9 million registered voters in the region, including Peshmerga and security forces.

The date of September 25, 2024, was a significant one for Kurds, marking the 7th anniversary of the historic independence referendum, the start of the new academic year for schools in the Kurdistan Region, and the official launch of the KDP's election campaign. IHEC's biometric registration shows that 2,899,878 voters are eligible to participate in the Kurdistan Region's election, including 2,683,618 civilians and 215,960 Peshmerga and security forces personnel.
