Diyala rocked by bomb attacks
A series of attacks in Diyala province today have resulted in a number of civilian fatalities and injuries.

The explosion of a bomb-laden car which targeted the house of Baladruz police chief claimed the lives of three civilians and caused damage to several adjacent houses.

Security committee chief for Baladruz district Khaled Itabi said the bombs targeted Brig. Enad Tamimi's house.

Earlier today two people were killed and eight were wounded after a car bomb parked in a garage in Baquba, the provincial capital, exploded.

In a separate incident a child was wounded after a hand grenade exploded in Saad barracks in central Baquba.

Another grenade attached to a car wounded the driver seriously after it exploded in Bihista village of Wajiha parish, a suburb of Meqdadiyah, 35km east of Baquba.

Security sources claim that the strategy of armed groups has changed. They are now targeting residential areas rather than police and security stations.
