Erbil Airport to offer helicopter transport services in May
Erbil International Airport has signed a contract with Executive Jet ME to offer commercial and emergency services to people in remote places across Kurdistan Region.
Under the contract, the company will provide three helicopters fully staffed with pilots and trained paramedics and nurses, who will be on 24-hour alert to transport injured people from even mountainous area in Kurdistan Region to hospitals in the capital city.

They will also provide commercial services to local and foreign companies who need fast transportation.

“The goal is to provide services to local and international companies in the region as well as to provide medical aid all over the Kurdistan Region” said Andrew Jones, the airport’s relations adviser.

“These helicopters staffed with trained doctors and medics can reach distant and mountainous areas within 10 minutes.”

The helicopters can also be used to transport patients to neighboring countries for urgent operations not available in Kurdistan Region, said Talar Fayaq, Director of Erbil International Airport.

The service, expected to be launched at the end of May, is contracted for three years with an option for two further years, she added.

Ebril Airport expects the deal to be the first of several with different companies to provide helicopter evacuation and transport services.
