- Iraq's Ministry of Displacement and Migration said today that the forced deportation of Iraqi refugees from European countries is still continuing despite appeals by the ministry to stop such moves until Iraq witnesses economic improvement.
Immigration Minister Dindar Doski said there is selective forced deportation, such as deporting the husband from his family or wife. Doski said such action is subject to political and judicial decisions.

"The ministry is continuing its meetings with the ambassadors of these countries to urge them to stop the forced deportation, but I don't think that this process will stop," he said.

The Iraqi government decided last December not to receive Iraqi refugees forcibly deported from European countries at Baghdad International Airport.

The two international airports in Erbil and Sulaimaniya in the Kurdistan Region have refrained, since their establishment, from receiving Iraqi refugees who are forcibly deported from European countries, including Kurds.

Thousands of Iraqis left the country between 2006-2007 during the sectarian war and settled mostly in European Union countries, including Sweden
