Kurdistan: 14 dams under construction cost USD 120 million
Akram Ahmad told PUKmedia that there are 14 dams underway in Kurdistan region at the cost of USD 120 million, he is the general director of dams and reservoirs for KRG ministry of agriculture and water resources.

The dams include Degalu, Ban, Talaban, Jali, Naquban, Razgadwin in Erbil, Khanas and Bidahin in Duhok and Surqawshan, Dewana, Khornawazan, Awaspi and Qadirkaram in Sulaimani and Garmian administration border.

Kurdistan regional government plans afoot to implement 41 more dam projects the designs of which have already been suggested to be constructed in 2012 in the region. The objective of the projects is to develop agricultural and environmental sectors, supply drinking water and electricity power, he noted.
