Thousands of families flee Tuz, mostly Kurdish
Ten thousand families fled the town of Tuz Khormato, Salahaddin, due to instability and lack of services.
The town has been hit several times throughout the current Iraq conflict.

Ten thousand families mostly Kurdish have fled Tuz Khormato town to the other cities since 2010 over the fear of the terrorist attacks and lack of services, town commissioner Shalal Abdul told PUKmedia.

“95% of the fleeing families are Kurdish who left the town to other cities including Sulaimani, Kalar, Kifri and Kirkuk,” he added.

He linked the cause of displacement to lack of security and enough services.

Abdul warns of the continuity of the displacement, stating that 4 to 5 families leave the town each day.

“We have warned the Kurdistan authorities of the problem to prevent the wave of the families fleeing Tuz,” he noted.

Tuz Khormato is a town in Salahaddin province, located 55 miles south of Kirkuk. The town is ethnically mixed between Kurds, Turkmen and Arabs.
