Nechirvan: Kurdish oil policy based on constitution
Among the pending issues Kurdistan has with Central Government of Baghdad is the oil issue, however, the region recently signed a deal with U.S oil major Exxon Mobil to operate in six oil-fields which then further strained the relations.
Kurdistan has maintained oil policy according to Iraqi permanent constitution to which 80% of Iraqis have voted for, stated Nechirvan Barzani in 17th Graduation Commencement of Duhok University.
“We have been asked a lot concerning Kurdish oil policy,” said the Premier, “but we have nothing secret to hide in that policy.”
He denounced the Central Government of running a political delay against Kurdistan particularly in oil and gas which increasingly aggravate the situation.
He also linked the crises to Bagdad’s non-commitment to the constitution.
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has been blamed for sidelining the other Iraqi coalitions and that Kurdistan Coalition, al-Iraqiya bloc and Sadrist trend made joint efforts to unseat al-Maliki after they held a range of meetings in Erbil and Najaf.
