Sadr calls for two-term limit to presidencies
The leader of the Sadrist Movement Moqtada al-Sadr called on Iraq's House of Representatives to vote on the law that limits the terms of the three presidencies to only two terms to avoid “dictatorships”.
Al-Sadr said: "It's necessary to set the terms of the presidencies of the republic, government and parliament to only two terms."

He called on the House of Representatives to vote on legislation to limit the period of the presidencies to deter the birth or the emergence of a personal or one-party dictatorship.

He pointed out that Iraq consists of a number of components which are the sources of its power. These components are Arab Shiite, Arab Sunni and Kurds along with Turkmen, Christians, Yazidis and Sabeans.

The leader added: “It is necessary to work to create the basis of operations together and cancel the marginalization process facing some parties and minorities.”
